Kilmarnock Christmas Lights Switch On 2016

The Christmas Lights Switch On has grown over the years to become one of the most popular events in East Ayrshire’s calendar. With two stages of live entertainment there is without a doubt something for everyone.

On the MAIN STAGE at The Cross

Twin Heart -
Twin Heart are an exciting Alternative three piece from Kilmarnock. Their debut EP, ‘Progress: Decline’ was released in July 2016, receiving national press, TV coverage and airplay. Twin Heart have played some of the UK’s biggest festivals but are really excited to be joining us on stage in their home town.

Aimee Penman -
Aimee is a classically trained singer with the most stunning voice. She has performed at a range of prestigious events and she’s going to be a real class act this Christmas

Sean Kennedy -
Sean C Kennedy is a Singer-Songwriter and guitarist from Ayrshire. Influenced by the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Bryan Adams, Prince, Amos Lee, Sean has found a way to brilliantly blend these influences with his own style in order to create something unique.

Simply Rod Stewart -
Following on from his brilliant performance in the town centre on the day of the Rod Stewart concert, James Frew is back as “Simply Rod Stewart” His vocal tone is as close as you will get to the real thing – you’re going to love him!

Loudoun Musical Society -
Loudoun Musical Society are a very energetic company with diverse membership bursting with talent suitable for any West End stage! Celebrating their 40th year this year, the Society are delighted to be participating in the Christmas Light Switch On as part of their celebrations.

Angelstar -
Delighted to welcome back Angelstar to our Kilmarnock event after they went down a storm on their first visit. Angelstar will get everyone dancing and are the perfect act to take us up to the lights switch on and keep us dancing afterwards.
The ever popular Community Stage will be compered by pupils from James Hamilton academy and will feature schools, dance groups, local singers and the wonderful Centrestage.

In addition to all the live entertainment there is a fabulous Christmas craft market in Bank Street and Bank Place, there will be FREE face painting in the Burns Mall, a mini kid’s funfair at Foregate Square, on street roving entertainment and the return of the wonderful Narnia Experience produced by, and taking place in, the New Laigh Kirk Church Halls on John Finnie Street.

The Provost will be joined by some local children at 5pm to switch on the towns Christmas lights officially marking the start of the Christmas season in Kilmarnock town centre.
