KILMARNOCK CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON 2015

East Ayrshire Council announcement:

Due to the adverse weather conditions and extremely high winds forecast for Sunday, we regret that the Kilmarnock Christmas Lights Switch-On has been cancelled.

We are bitterly disappointed that the event can't go ahead as it is a real highlight of the Christmas events calendar.

We cannot take any chances with public safety – and the wind-speeds forecast by the Met Office could prove to be dangerous for performers and spectators due to the staging arrangements and also the Christmas stalls.

Safety must be our utmost priority and we wanted to let you know about the cancellation at the earliest opportunity.

The event takes months of organisation and cannot be restaged at such short notice – but the lights will 'go live' at 5pm on Sunday as scheduled – just not in the way we thought.

We're very sorry for any inconvenience caused.

A magical Narnia Experience will be going ahead in the New Laigh Kirk between 2pm and 5pm. There will be free face painting (2 – 5PM) and fun Christmas activities, including pop up carol singers, Mickey and Minnie Mouse characters and Minions within the Burns Mall between 12pm and 3pm.
