CORAL SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL LADIES DAY

Ayr Racecourse, Whitletts Road, Ayr

CORAL SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL LADIES DAY

Ladies Day also marks the launch of the 2016 ladies competition at Ayr Racecourse.

The Best Dressed Ladies on the day will receive a coin which guarantees them a place in the final of the competition at Ladies Day on September 16.

Judges will mingle with the crowd and award coins. On Ladies Day final in September up to 25 finalists will each draw the name of a horse running in the Ayr Bronze Cup. The lady with the winning horses wins a fantastic prize – last year it was a three night stay for two in New York and there are also superb prizes for those finishing with the horses finishing second and third.

Racing wise there is some terrific action on course with the highlight The Hillhouse Quarry Handicap Chase, a Class 1 Listed Race run over two miles four and a half furlongs.

CORAL SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL

Ayr Racecourse, Whitletts Road, Ayr

CORAL SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL

This iconic sporting occasion features Scotland's biggest and most valuable jumps race – the Coral Scottish Grand National with £210,000 in prize-money attracting a field of up to 30 of the country's top chasers.

The atmosphere is electric as the horses set out on their four mile plus journey negotiating 25 fences in search of the famous trophy and the kudos it brings. As the horses power ip the home straight at the conclusion of the race the cacophony of sound grows and grows making the hairs on the back of your head rise. Last year the race was won by Wayward Prince providing trainer Hilary Parrot and jockey Robbie Dunne with their biggest ever success.

The Coral Scottish Grand National is the second most valuable jumps handicap of the season behind only the Grand National. Before the big race this year X Factor voice coach Yvie Burnett will sing Caledonia. Yvie, who has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Leona Lewis and Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody, will perform the song and provide a poignant and fitting build-up to the race. Race run over two miles four and a half furlongs which was won last year by the highly progressive Presenting Junior.
