I LOVE TO BOOGIE’ – WITH T.REXTASY

T.Rextasy have now been performing around the world for over 20 years, a career that ironically out lives Marc’s very own T.Rex.

The band is now accepted as the world’s only official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan & T.Rex, and the only band endorsed and approved by Marc Bolan’s family, estate, original ex-members of T.Rex, and Bolan’s catalogue management.

The band has been described by many as ‘beyond the boundaries of tribute’. Truly a rock’n’roll concert for all ages.

THE IVOR NOVELLO STORY
Gaiety Theatre, Ayr

THE IVOR NOVELLO STORY

Classical Musicians Scotland present The Ivor Novello Story by John Cairney (by arrangement with Samuel French Ltd). Ivor Novello was a man of the theatre above all else, and a musician of real worth, brilliantly capturing the ease and diffident charm of the world between the wars.

The songs he wrote are certainly not forgotten… 'Waltz of My Heart', 'Some Day My Heart Will Awake', 'Keep The Home Fires Burning', 'We'll Gather Lilacs'… Not only was he a composer of lavish musical plays, he was a film star appearing in two Hitchcock films, and a Hollywood screenwriter, recognised as coming up with the immortal phrase – "Me Tarzan, you Jane!" In this wonderful script by John Cairney, Scottish writer, actor, painter and raconteur, Ivor Novello's story and songs are brought to life by an actor, two singers and a pianist. Prepare yourself for nostalgia, romance and showbiz glamour, and a homeward journey humming tunes you thought you'd forgotten! Featuring James Dinsmore (Ivor); Daisy Henderson (Soprano); Taylor Wilson (Mezzo Soprano) and Bill Kean (Pianist).

Tickets: £16.50 / £15.50 (conc)

FRECKFEST PRESENTS NIK KERSHAW ‘ME, MYSELF AND I’

In 1984, Nik Kershaw spent more weeks in the charts than any other solo act on the planet. Stop and think about that for a second.

1984. Madonna. Michael Jackson. Prince. None of them could outstay Nik Kershaw. Big, shiny radio hits, a memorable appearance at Live Aid and the ability to write hit songs for other artists, Nik brings his one-man show to the HAC.

As an added extra, he will be taking part in a Q&A session with the audience, where he promises promises to answer all questions, “even the potentially awkward ones.” Get your thinking caps on!

Over her 42 years of touring Joan Armatrading has never done a solo world tour. For her last Major tour she has decided this is the perfect time to perform her first ever full scale solo concerts. Her performances will include songs that span her entire career so far.

'I will never retire but this will be the last major tour that I will undertake. For the first time these concerts will be me solo on stage playing the guitar, piano and singing. I want these concerts to be a special lively interactive one to one experience. I have absolutely enjoyed the last 42 years of performances but now, with my final major tour, I want to capture a unique memory for both myself and the audience.'
