Giuseppe Verdi Heritage Opera. Paris 1890: Violetta Valery is a plaything of powerful men, surrounded by the pleasure seekers of Paris, fair-weather friends who stick around as long as there is a fresh bottle of champagne to drink. But time is running out for Violetta, who hides a grave illness beneath her glamorous exterior. Only Alfredo, a young man from the country can see beyond Violetta’s pretence, to the sensitive soul within.
Can Violetta allow herself to be guided by her heart for once, and fall in love with Alfredo? And will his respectable family accept this ‘fallen woman’? Heritage Opera returns to Ayr Gaiety Theatre with Verdi’s passionate and tragic love story. Set in the Demi-Monde of late 19th century Paris, La Traviata will take you on a heartrending journey of passion, love and sacrifice, all set to some of Verdi’s most famous music. Sung in Italian, with English surtitles, and accompanied by 6 piece orchestral ensemble
