SCOTTISH INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW

Since 2014, the Scottish International Airshow has been bringing the very best in flight displays to Scotland. The first year attracted over 60,000 people the second year 120,000 this year is expected to bring even more visitors to Ayr.

Not just breath taking flying displays there will be a funfair, stalls, ground exhibitions, food stalls, beer tent and lots more. This year the show has an exciting first for Scotland. In addition to a full day of flying on Saturday, the Airshow is proud to present a Friday night flying display by Aerosparx, whose LED covered planes sparkle in the night sky.

Come to Culzean to watch members of the British Longbow Society compete in the Scottish Albion Meeting.

The Scottish branch of the British Longbow Society have held several meetings per year at Culzean since 1993. Come along and watch them use their traditional longbows in the beautiful surroundings of the Fountain Court, below the Castle.

EXPLORE CULZEAN'S CAVES

Book a place on one of the guided tours into the locked doors of the caves below the Castle. Explore the different chambers and hear tales of the smugglers who used them, learn about their ancient history and some facts about their formation. Children must be 8 years and over and accompanied by an adult.

Wear old clothes and stout footwear or wellies as the caves are very muddy. People on this walk must be able to walk over slippy rocks to get to the caves. Head torches and helmets are provided. Please note normal admission applies for entry to the country park. Meet at the Visitor Centre.

SEA KAYAKING EXPEDITION

SEA KAYAKING EXPEDITION

A full day exploring the many sheltered coves and headlands that dot the coastline radiating from the Castle in either direction. The expedition will explore the areas scenery, wildlife and history whilst providing the paddlers with plenty of opportunities to be explore on their own within a framework of a led expedition.

There will be an opportunity for soup and sandwich lunch at a nearby pub. All kit and equipment supplied, Lunch not included. Due to the nature of the coastline, the changeable weather and duration of the tour this trip is for experienced paddlers only. Cost £60.

Minimum sponsorship Adults: £80 Children (11+ for assault course): £60. Take part in this sponsored assault course and target practice challenge event to realise your full superhero potential.

A day for all the family participants and spectators will have loads to do with lots of superhero games and challenges to try in the village, an assault course challenge and target practice - using paintballs guns, superhero stencils and a target to create your own superhero splatter art!

Registration starts at 9.30am and the day will wrap up about 4pm.

Organised by the Newmilns Regeneration Association and supported by local businesses, the Community Food Fund and Awards for All, this FREE to attend Food Festival will showcase the best of local food and drink. You will be able to sample local food and drink in the Covered Marketplace, where you will find local produces selling the best of Ayrshire Food and Drink.

Watch one of our Demonstrations and learn more about Food – demonstrations are still to be finalised but will cover fish, meat, cheese, cooking with every day and exotic ingredients.

Encourage your children or grandchildren to enter our Grand Cookery Competition – held in partnership with our local schools. Have afternoon tea in the Tea Room – with home baking!

And we’ve even got our own Newmilns Bake Off! See which male NRA Committee Member can best please our Scottish Women’s Institute judge . . . with his classic Victoria Sponge.

Two Locomotives in steam - No. 10 on brakevan duties providing visitors with the thrill of a short trip along a section of the former Dalmellington Iron Company's main line. Also, our very unusual Fireless steam locomotive will be seen hauling a short demonstration train at regular intervals throughout the day.
