View our extensive collection of steam and diesel locos and other items of rolling stock. Visit our Museum which houses items of narrow gauge rolling stock, photographic displays and railway memorabilia. View our working model steam railway, and there is even a model railway for the children to play with. Our Shop has many items at pocket money prices, to suit our younger visitors.

The Café serves teas, coffee, soft drinks and snacks all day during Steam Days. Free Car Park. Disabled access to most of the Centre, including the brakevan trips. BALLANTRAE SMUGGLERS’ FESTIVAL

Ballantrae’s Smugglers’ Festival, now in its fourth year, is inspired by stories about smugglers from Ballantrae and the surrounding area in the 18th and 19th centuries.

This year’s festival is for the whole family and will include “The Landing of the Contraband” on the evening of Friday 5 August involving the ship La Malouine, small boats, and horses and carts. Will the Exciseman try to spoil the plans? The “Strongman Competition”, on the evening of Saturday 6 August involves teams of children and adults from the village and surrounding communities.

Set in Rozelle Park, with its feature trees, ponds, and woodland walks near to Burns’ Birthplace in Alloway, today’s Ayr Flower Show is much more than an opportunity for gardening enthusiasts to admire bonny begonias and dazzling delphinia, or to purchase plants and related gardening items. For it is now a three-day family festival in which food and fun complement flowers and fruit in a heady mixture that has become increasingly attractive to a much wider market.

Already viewed as a major “Family Day Out” event, there is an even greater incentive this year for families to visit the Show as ALL accompanied youngsters aged under 16 years are being admitted totally FREE.

To avoid queuing, on-line ticket purchase is being encouraged and Car Parking at the Show remains FREE of CHARGE!

Dundonald Highland Games is one of Ayrshire’s premier cultural events. It is unique in capturing traditional Scottish heritage and strong community spirit within the picturesque setting of Royal Dundonald Castle.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! Back by popular demand, Guaranteed to be the most colourful, fun 5k you’ll ever do! You don't have to run - you can walk, skip, jump, dance or even hop the distance - whatever takes your fancy. Just be prepared for a kaleidoscope of colour to rain down over you and your fellow runners, leaving you looking like a brightly- coloured rainbow.

Lots of entertainment to get you warmed up beforehand and even more afterwards, when you can sit back and enjoy your well-deserved burger! Registration fee, which includes a pristine (not for long!) white t-shirt, sunglasses and Colour Dash medal, is £20 for adults, £10 for under 16s and 4-5 year olds £5. All under 16's must be accompanied by an adult. Please note this event is not suitable for under 4's. Family ticket of two adults and two children costs £50. A minimum sponsorship of £50, but will be extremely grateful for any amount raised.
