BURNS AN A THAT FESTIVAL FEATURING WEEKEND IN THE PARK

The Burns an' a' that! Festival is an annual tribute to Scotland's internationally acclaimed poet Robert Burns.

In 2013 the festival will celebrate both its twelfth anniversary and The Year of Natural Scotland with a special 'Weekend in the Park' celebration at Belleisle Park, Ayr (Sat 25 & Sun 26 May). Join us for an amazing line-up of live music, visual and performance art, family entertainment, food and drink and much more!

The festival begins with a special FESTIVAL FRIDAY (Fri 24 May) launch in Ayr Town Centre where you can find out all about the weekend ahead and get a taste for some of the treats on offer. The weekend completes with a brilliant FESTIVAL FINALE gig in our live music tent where Justin Currie (ex Del Amitri) will perform tracks from his solo and band career. Justin will be supported by Rachel Sermanni. 

Bring your friends, bring a picnic and join us for an unforgettable weekend packed full of unique surprises!

CARRICK 800 – THE VIKINGS HAVE LANDED

Historical enactment on the Fountain Court below the Castle. The Vikings have landed - Come and see how they lived and experience full on battle. Can they stay on Scotland's west coast?

After the overwhelming success of previous visits, the GLOBAL MARKET is returning to Kilmarnock.

Featuring over 50 traders from around the world, the Global shopping experience will include an amazing French patisserie, Dutch cheeses, German speciality sausage, Spanish paella, Greek deli produce, Belgian chocolate and from further afield – Wild boar and Ostrich from South Africa, Thai and Indian food and much, much more.

Apart from the mouth watering food there will also be traditional crafts from countries as far apart as Finland and Peru and once again, Kilmarnock's Cross will be transformed into a spectacular Floral display.

PRESTWICK PROM

A fun filled seaside event to celebrate over 100 years of Prestwick Promenade.

THE AUTO COLLECTION

Classic, performance and exotic cars and motor cycles gather in the grounds of Malcolm Sargent House as part of the Prestwick Prom Day celebrations.

The CLIC Sargent Trophy will be awarded to the owner of the vehicle named best in show.

BREAKTHROUGH BREAST CANCER WALK

This is the 9th annual sponsored walk, jog or run in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. This event takes place on the first Saturday in June every year and has raised £50,000 to date. The walk is ten miles long but there are two shorter routes of 6 miles and 2 miles. Sponsor forms are available from Elaine Mitchell.

The entry fee is £10 for adults and £3 for children. Registration is at 5.30pm and the walk begins at 6pm. There are various refreshment stops available all the way round the route and there is a goodie bag at the end of the night.

SORN TO MUIRKIRK SPONSORED WALK

We invite you to join Ayrshire Cancer Support once again for our popular annual sponsored walk from Sorn to Muirkirk.

The 13.5 mile moderate route starts from The Cabin, Sorn and sets off along the River Ayr Way taking in some of the finest scenery that Ayrshire has to offer. It will finish up at The Day Centre in Furnace Road, Muirkirk. where tea, coffee and snacks will be provided for hungry walkers.

There is limited transport back to Muirkirk. All we ask is that you raise a minimum of £20 in sponsorship.

LOWLAND GATHERING

Come and enjoy the Highland games. Pipe band competitions, Highland dancing, heavy weights events and trade stalls.

AYR GOLF WEEK

The 62nd year of Ayr Golf Week which is open to all amateur golfers who are members of a recognised golf club and are holders of a senior club handicap.

Includes the Tam o'Shanter & Handyside Tournaments, David Gemmell Memorial Open, Stableford Competition, Consolation Tournament, Open Mixed Foursomes, Ladies Tri-Am, Ladies Greensomes, R.C. Brown Trophy and Ladies and Gents Senior Strokeplay.

SCOTTISH CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE SHOW

The Scottish Classic Motorcycle Show with Bike Jumble and includes classic custom section, Scottish Classic Racing Motorcycle Club competition bikes running, live music , mainly indoors.

This is the 24th annual show run by the well known Ayr Classic Motorcycle Club . They regularly have over a hundred motorcycles on show dating from the 1920s through to the 1990s.

An afternoon of fun, music & entertainment, side stalls, childrens attractions and dog competition held in the picturesque surroundings of Rozelle Park.

68TH GLASGOW TAXIS OUTING

Taxis outing from Glasgow arriving in Troon at 1 pm approx to be welcomed by Provost Helen Moonie and other dignatories before the Parade through the Town to the Concert Hall.

WAGGY TAIL WALK

VIP's (VERY IMPORTANT POOCHES!) It will be best paw forward when our four-legged friends (and their masters) take a sponsored stroll along the banks of the River Ayr on our annual Waggy Tail Walk. We've had dalmatians, collies, labradors, westies, basenjis, spaniels, shih tzus and jack russels to name but a few.

Why don't you and your dog join us and made new friends along the way. There is a "watering-hole" during the route where Kirsty and Agnes make sure there are drinks and snacks for the two-legged walkers and water and biscuits for the dogs - it's thirsty work for everyone!

There is no registration fee and no minimum sponsorship - we are most appreciative of any amount raised.

Come along and register any time between 12 noon and 2pm and start the walk at your leisure.
