Enjoy the thrill of travelling in a brake van behind one of our working steam locomotives along a short section of the former Dalmellington Iron Company's main railway line. View our extensive collection of steam and diesel locos and other items of rolling stock. The Museum has narrow gauge items of rolling stock, photographic displays and a working model steam railway.

We even have a model railway for the children to play with. The Souvenir Shop has many items at pocket money prices especially for our younger visitors. The Cafe serves teas, coffee, soft drinks and snacks all day during Steam Days. Free Car Park.

AYR GOLF WEEK - PART OF SOUTH AYRSHIRE GOLF FESTIVAL

Ayr Golf Week boasts a trio of classic courses in Robert Burns birthplace. Belleisle is a parkland course of genuine character. Set in the harmonious beech tree woodland of Belleisle Park and interlaced by the Curtecan Burn, it is often quoted as one of the best public courses in Scotland.

Seafield runs adjacent to Belleisle within the bounds of the Old Racecourse in Ayr and offers a mix of parkland and links style holes. Dalmilling completes the set. A neighbour to Ayr Racecourse, part of this course is bordered by the River Ayr and dips into a rolling valley.

This year sees the 63rd year of Ayr Golf Week which is open to all amateur golfers who are members of a recognised golf club and are holders of a senior club handicap.

We are delighted to announce that Kai, the dog recently abandoned at Ayr Railway Station is returning to Ayrshire with his new owner to lead our Waggy Tail Walk! Join Kai, for a relaxing stroll with all the family and your VIP's (Very Important Pooches) for our annual three mile Waggy Tail Walk on Sunday 14th June.

The exciting news is that this year we now have two walks for you to choose from, Eglinton Country Park in Kilwinning or along the banks of the River Ayr, starting from Ayr College Car Park. You can join either walk anytime between 10am - 12 noon and there will be treats for everyone along the way. Come along to this fun filled sponsored doggy walk – you'd be barking mad to miss it!

There is no registration fee for this event however we would be grateful if each family could raise a minimum sponsorship of £20.
